Dutch Iris ‘Miss Saigon’ makes a real statement with its incredible contrasting colours. Lavender and blue tones blend with soft lemon and deeper golden-yellow highlights, creating a striking spring display that stands out in the garden and in bouquets. It’s also a fantastic cut flower, with elegant stems that suit vase arrangements beautifully.

Dutch iris are among the easiest bulbs to grow and they flower after most daffodils and tulips have finished, making them perfect for extending spring colour. Very hardy and reliable, each bulb typically produces 1 to 2 stems, with 1 to 2 flowers per stem.

Planting and care

  • Position: full sun in a well-drained spot

  • Planting depth: 6 to 8 cm

  • Spacing: 12 to 15 cm apart

  • Soil: plant into well-prepared soil

  • Feeding: apply garden fertiliser as needed during the growing season

  • Care: in humid or problem areas, occasional sprays for pests and fungal issues can help keep plants tidy and healthy

Among one of the hardiest, easiest to grow Spring Bulb varieties, the Dutch Iris is a real must have. They are a fantastic cutflower, lasting for a couple of weeks in a vase.

Flowering relatively early in the season (around September) on lovely strong stems.
