Part ShadeAnemone ‘Lord Lieutenant’ produces masses of purple-blue, multi-petalled blooms with a striking deep-coloured centre. A standout for winter and spring colour, it looks incredible planted in generous groups through borders and pots, and it’s also highly valued as a cut flower.
‘Lord Lieutenant’ is a St Brigid anemone (also known as a double anemone), with extra petals for a fuller, ruffled look and a longer-lasting display.
Anemones are great value and very easy to grow. For the longest season of flowers, stagger your planting and enjoy months of blooms with minimal effort. For best results, chill the rhizomes for 5 to 6 weeks before planting (we’ve already done this for you), then soak in fresh water for 10 to 12 hours prior to planting. Anemones prefer cooler conditions, with soil temperatures around 12 to 15°C, so avoid planting in high temperatures.
Expect 6 to 8 cm flowers from early winter to late spring, perfect for brightening the garden and filling vases.
Anemones (also known as Windflowers) are one of the best-bang-for-your-buck varieties. One of the easiest ways to add colour and beauty to your Spring garden. Simple to grow, and incredibly floriferous.
These tiny little Rhizomes pack a real punch! Anemones are fantastic planted in mass, and make a great cut flower. To prolong your display, they can be stagger planted.
