First Red is a very early-flowering daffodil variety, making it an excellent choice for extending your spring garden display. Blooming earlier than many other daffodils, it brings welcome colour and impact just as winter fades.

Daffodils are the very essence of spring, offering a dazzling display of their instantly recognisable trumpet-shaped flowers. Easy to grow and highly reliable, they return year after year with minimal care, providing consistent spring colour.

Held on sturdy stems reaching 40–60cm, First Red daffodils are ideal for cut flower arrangements. When planted in bold clusters, they also create a striking and eye-catching display in borders and beds.

Daffodils are among the showiest and easiest to grow of Spring flowering bulbs. Available in an incredible array of colours and shapes, they are ideal for the Spring flower garden.

Prepare the soil deeply, mixing in compost, or our Bulb Fertilizer, preferably in a sunny, free draining position.

Daffodil bulbs are best planted in bold clumps, 8-10cm deep and 10-15cm apart.

If drainage is a problem, plant shallower, and mound 7-10cm of soil over the bulbs.
