Dutch Iris ‘Tiger’s Eye’ is a stunning variety with violet-blue blooms and dramatic mahogany-bronze falls, finished with golden-yellow blotches. It’s a real standout in the garden and an excellent cut flower, with elegant stems that look gorgeous in spring arrangements.

Flowering after most daffodils and tulips have finished, Dutch iris are a perfect way to extend your spring colour. They’re also among the easiest bulbs to grow, very hardy, and each bulb typically produces 1 to 2 stems, with 1 to 2 flowers per stem.

Planting and care

  • Position: full sun in a well-drained spot

  • Planting depth: 6 to 8 cm

  • Spacing: 12 to 15 cm apart

  • Soil: plant into well-prepared soil

  • Feeding: apply garden fertiliser as needed during the growing season

  • Care: in humid or problem areas, occasional sprays for pests and fungal issues can help keep plants tidy and healthy

Among one of the hardiest, easiest to grow Spring Bulb varieties, the Dutch Iris is a real must have. They are a fantastic cutflower, lasting for a couple of weeks in a vase.

Flowering relatively early in the season (around September) on lovely strong stems.
